Yvonne Hemphill is too humble to proclaim herself a woman of influence. After all, being the owner of The Lash Lounge in Flower Mound for the past seven years isn’t an exact science, and she still makes her share of mistakes. But in the same breath, she’s proud to be in the trenches with other hard-working female small-business owners every day — and she’s learned a thing or two for those who want to follow in their footsteps.
At the top of that list is a commitment to taking care of your customers and staff, developing a thick skin for when things don’t go as planned, and realizing that, as hard as you try, you can’t please everyone.
“As women, we tend to be relationship-based leaders. I know I am — I’ve created this atmosphere at the salon that’s very nurturing and says, ‘I genuinely care about you,’” she said. “Being emotionally involved is great, but if an employee leaves or a customer is upset, it bothers me to the point where I take it personally. As a result, you have to learn to develop tough skin and realize that you can’t please everyone. As long as I know we did the best we could, then that’s what matters.
“You can still lead with your heart. You can still care — that’s the gift we bring to the table as women. But you have to move forward when bad things happen and never stop taking care of the people who are still with you.”
Yvonne and her team epitomize what it means to do things the right way. Their goal is to provide the best eyelash extension services in the area — from extensions to refills, lifts, eyebrow and eyelash tinting, and threading — all while delivering precisely the look you’ve been craving. This includes consulting with guests to create each volume fan by hand for things like Hybrid and Volume lash services — something many competing salons don’t have the advanced training or technical skills to do. The Lash Lounge employs only the best Lash Artists in the area.
“We put a lot of time into doing the right thing for the girls who work here and the customers who put their trust in us,” Yvonne said. “If you’re interested in a great salon, we’re interested in you.”
The Lash Lounge isn’t your average lash studio, and Yvonne Hemphill is more of a woman of influence than she lets on.
