Fresh Coats for Tired Walls

COVID, lockdowns, and working from home made a lot of folks begin wondering how it would feel to be their own boss. Bunches of people followed these musings, creating a surge of new franchise openings across the country. Husband and wife team Alex Cruz and Jessica Land were among those exiting the traditional workplace.

“We looked into this in 2009,” Alex said. “We did a lot of investigating, but ultimately
decided we weren’t ready.”

Then the pandemic hit and Cruz and Land decided to move forward rapidly. They returned to the exact spot where they abandoned their search 12 years ago – Fresh Coat Painters.
“When we first visited the company, we felt we were weak in too many areas to be successful. We needed more experience in time management and relationships. We realized every business relationship is critical and we didn’t have the maturity to carry it off,” Alex explained. “Was launching during a pandemic a negative? Not really. You can’t imagine how many people were sick and tired of looking at the color on their walls and other interior surfaces! It was a COVID silver lining.”

According to Land and Cruz, the Fresh Coat Painters of The Colony was a perfect turn-key package, allowing them to move as quickly as they wanted. “We trained in February and March,” Jessica said, and opened May 2021. “The Colony is a new Fresh Coat location. We’re very pleased with our territory because it’s a great mix of older and newer homes, and of commercial and residential buildings. We do more than paint just walls. We work on exterior and interior, deck staining, paint cabinets in kitchens and bathrooms, textured ceilings, popcorn ceilings, and wallpaper removal for residences, offices, garages, apartment complexes, and more. We have color experts if assistance is needed, and we use only premium quality paint.”

The goal of Fresh Coat Painters of The Colony is to paint a warm and welcoming reflection of each, individual client.
