Empowering Women and Leading with Purpose

Lori Fickling, the President of the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce, began working in real
estate, but her passion for community engagement led her to the world of chamber work.
Inspired by strong women already making an impact, Lori sought to empower other women to
find their place and succeed.
Throughout her career, Lori has been surrounded by remarkable women who inspire her daily.
Her first boss, Phyllis Davis, instilled in her the confidence to push her limits and believe in
herself. Another significant inspiration is her friend and mentor, Bobbie Mitchell.
Being a leader herself, Lori shares valuable advice with aspiring young women. She
encourages them to take charge of their lives and not let others dictate their path. Believing in
their capabilities is vital to achieving their dreams.
For Lori, the key qualities of a successful leader include genuineness, active listening, and
compassion for others. Remaining true to one’s convictions and standing up for people are
equally important attributes.
Balancing work and personal life has not always been easy. While raising her family, she admits
to struggling with work dominating her time. However, she has since learned the value of setting
boundaries and being intentional about spending quality time with family, and friends, and
pursuing hobbies.
Having experienced diverse career paths, Lori is grateful to have come full circle, returning to
the Lewisville Chamber where her journey commenced. As the President, she continues to
make a positive impact, empowering women, and fostering a vibrant community spirit.
