Lynn Clark: A Mayor’s Journey of Service and Empowerment

Lynn Clark’s path to becoming Mayor of Hickory Creek was not a
conventional one. As a former stay-at-home mom and later the Executive
Director of a state trade organization, Lynn never imagined herself as a
political figure. However, her love for her community and a chance to
contribute to its growth led her to serve on the Economic Development
Corporation in 2003. Over time, she ventured further into politics and was
eventually elected as the Mayor of Hickory Creek in 2015.

Throughout her journey, Lynn has found inspiration in many women, but
Denton County Precinct 3 Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell holds a special place
in her heart. Bobbie has been a friend, confidante, and a source of
continuous encouragement for Lynn. Her wealth of experience and
willingness to lend a listening ear have made her an influential figure in
Lynn’s life.

To young women aspiring to be leaders, Lynn emphasizes the importance of
listening and not engaging in battles on social media. As Mayor, she
maintains an “open door” policy, valuing face-to-face interactions and
understanding the significance of tone and body language in communication.
Lynn also believes that being true to oneself and identifying with others are
keys to success in any leadership role.

In Lynn’s perspective, honesty and integrity are the most critical qualities of
a successful leader. She exemplified these values when faced with false
accusations during a heated election, choosing to rise above negativity and
focus on truth and commendable qualities.

Despite the demands of her role as Mayor, Lynn understands the importance
of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Saying “no” or “not right now” to
some commitments allows her to prioritize her well-being and family time.
Grandkid sleepovers and travel with her husband serve as stress relievers,
bringing joy and relaxation to her life.

Lynn’s passion for serving the citizens of Hickory Creek and connecting with
people across Denton County shines through her work as Mayor. For her,
there is no greater joy than contributing to her community’s growth and
empowerment.
