Hiking Trails Near You

Hiking is always a fun way to get in some exercise while also spending quality time with those you love – not to mention that the scenery is nothing to complain about! If you’ want to pick up a new hobby this summer, here are a few places to explore nearby!

Pilot Knoll Trail – 7.9 Miles
218A Orchid Hill Ln. • Argyle, TX 76226

This out-and-back trail in Argyle is usually considered an easier hiking trail. On average, it takes about 2 hours and 28 minutes to complete the entire trail. Pilot Knoll Trail is a very popular place for residents to enjoy birding, hiking, and horseback riding, which means you will most likely come across other people exploring while you’re on the trail. Pilot Knoll Trail is open all year-round and is dog friendly. Just make sure to keep them on a leash.

Hickory Creek and Lake Shore Trail –
2.5 Miles

1201 Point Vista Rd. • Hickory Creek, TX 75065

Hickory Creek and Lake Shore Trail is a 2.5-mile loop located in Pilot Knoll Park. It’s generally considered an easy hiking trail for most residents and on average, it takes about 47 minutes to complete. While this trail is located in the same park as Pilot Knoll Trail and has many of the same views and experiences, Hickory Creek and Lake Shore Trail are much more private and you are less likely to encounter more explorers on your hike.

Denton Katy Rail Trail – 12.1 Miles
304 Swisher Rd. • Lake Dallas, TX 75065

The Denton Katy Rail Trail is the perfect 12.1 mile point-to-point trail to hike. It’s considered to be an easier route, and it takes an average of 3 hours and 43 minutes to complete. It’s a popular spot for people to bike, trail run, and walk. This trail is open all year-round and is the perfect place to visit no matter what time of year it is. It’s also a dog-friendly trail as long as they are on
a leash.

Timber Creek Trail – 1.8 Miles
1944 Hobart Ln. • Lewisville, TX 75067

Timber Creek Trail is a 1.8-mile out-and-back trail located in Lewisville. It’s considered to be a generally easy route for hikers and adventurers, and it usually takes on average 33 minutes to complete. It’s the perfect trail for hiking, running, and walking. It’s also not the most populated trail so you’ll most likely be able to enjoy a little more peace and quiet on your hike. Dogs are always welcome on this trail as long as they are on a leash.

LLELA Nature Preserve – 0.9 Miles
201 E Jones St. • Lewisville, TX 75057

LLELA Nature Preserve is home to some of the most amazing scenery in the Lewisville area. You can enjoy its 0.9-mile loop trail. It’s generally considered an easier route for hikers and takes on average about 16 minutes to complete. You can enjoy bird watching, hiking, and trail running, and you’ll usually encounter a few other friendly adventurers. However, this trail isn’t puppy friendly so you’ll have to leave your fur baby at home.

Rocky Point Trail – 4.0 Miles
Flower Mound, TX 75022

This trail is a 4-mile loop trail that is located in Flower Mound. Rocky Point Trail is considered a more moderately challenging route for hikers, and it usually takes on average 1 hour and 23 minutes to complete. It’s a very popular trail for bird watching, hiking, and horseback riding. Rocky Point Trail is a beautiful place to explore all year round. Dogs are welcome to join you on your hike as long as they are on a leash.

Elm Fork Trail – 3.4 Miles
Old Alton Bridge Trail • Argyle, TX 76226

Elm Fork Trail is a 3.4-mile out-and-back trail that is located in Corinth. It’s usually considered an easy route for hikers, and it takes on average 1 hour and 2 minutes to complete. It’s a very popular area for hiking, horseback riding, and running so it’s a higher possibility that you’ll encounter others on your hike. Bringing your dog with you on your hike is always a
welcome idea as long as they are on a leash.

North Shore Acoe Trail – 2.4 Miles
880 Simmons Rd. • Flower Mound, TX 75022

North Shore Acoe Trail is the perfect 2.4-mile loop trail located in Flower Mound. It’s generally considered to be a moderately challenging route for hikers to explore and on average takes 50 minutes to complete. It’s an amazing trail for experienced hikers to practice their skills.
