- Pilot Knoll Trail – 7.9 Miles

This out-and-back trail in Argyle is usually considered an easier hiking trail. On average, it takes about 2 hours and 28 minutes to complete the entire trail. Pilot Knoll Trail is a very popular place for residents to enjoy birding, hiking, and horseback riding, which means you will most likely come across other people exploring while you’re on the trail. Pilot Knoll Trail is open all year-round and is dog friendly. Just make sure to keep them on a leash.

2) Hickory Creek and Lake Shore Trail – 2.5 Miles

Hickory Creek and Lake Shore Trail is a 2.5-mile loop located in Pilot Knoll Park. It’s generally considered an easy hiking trail for most residents and on average, it takes about 47 minutes to complete. While this trail is located in the same park as Pilot Knoll Trail and has many of the same views and experiences, Hickory Creek and Lake Shore Trail are much more private and you are less likely to encounter more explorers on your hike.

3) Knob Hill Trail – 11.4 Miles
HWY 377, Roanoke, Texas 76262
Knob Hill Trail is an 11.4-mile trail located in Roanoke and is usually considered a more moderately challenging route. This trial takes on average around 3 hours and 32 minutes to complete. It’s also a very popular location for people to come bird watch, fish, and hike and it’s very likely that you’ll encounter other hikers on your trail. It’s a beautiful spot to visit year-round. Dogs are always welcome as long as they stay on a leash.

4) The Dam Drop Loop – 2.5 Miles

The Dam Drop Loop is a 2.5-mile trail located in Fort Worth. It’s generally considered to be a more moderately challenging route for hikers and on average takes about an hour to complete. It should be noted that his particular trail is most popular for mountain biking and that hikers and mountain bikers share the same trail. The best time to visit The Dam Drop Loop is between March and October.

5) Cross Timbers Equestrian Trail – 6.5 Miles

Cross Timbers Equestrian Trail is 6.5 miles of lightly trafficked hiking trail. This trail is considered more of a moderately challenging route and it takes on average around 2 hours and 2 minutes to complete. It’s a great trail for hiking and horseback riding and it’s a much less populated trail, so it’s less likely that you’ll counter another hiker.

6) Fort Worth Marsh and Boardwalk – 0.2 Miles

The Fort Worth Marsh and Boardwalk is a short 0.2-mile experience. It’s considered a generally easy route for hikers and takes about an average of 5 minutes to complete. While it may be short, it is beautiful and peaceful. This is a great area for bird watching and walking and is enjoyed by many local residents. It’s a beautiful trail to visit year-round. It’s also a dog-friendly trail as long as they are on a leash.
