Foodie Friday DFW: Top 10 of 2023

Foodie Friday DFW

We’ve made it to the end of another year of Foodie Friday DFW. Thank you for your continued support of our mission, our local restaurants, and our community. Let’s look back at our Top 10 Features of 2023!

#10: Guitars & Growlers (Flower Mound)

Guitars & Growlers opened in Flower Mound last year and offers live music, craft brews, and a delicious menu right in our backyard. Don’t leave without trying their pretzels and beer cheese or the Johnny Winter flatbread!

#9: May’s Eats (Corinth)

May’s Eats serves up gourmet cuisine in a to-go-friendly atmosphere. Their signature items include their tarragon chicken salad, their pressed sandwiches, including their Cuban press, and their weekly-rotating lemonade flavors. And each season, they add new items to the menu, so there’s always something new to try.

#8: HD Smoked Goods (Flower Mound)

This family-owned restaurant uses fresh and high-quality ingredients to ensure that every bite is packed with flavor. Their skilled team uses traditional cooking techniques, and whether you’re a fan of brisket, ribs, pulled pork, or chicken, they have something for everyone.

#7: Dix Cafe (Flower Mound)

Whether you’re a brunch aficionado or just looking for a fantastic dining experience, Dix Cafe promises to satisfy your cravings. We love their cinnamon roll French toast, their sandwiches, and their baklava cheesecake!

#6: Bartonville Tavern (Bartonville)

Owned by the creative minds behind The Barrel, Tim House and Brandon Bohannan, this hotspot is more than a restaurant — it’s a vibe. Explore a menu bursting with flavor, from mouthwatering smoked burnt ends to signature Texas cheeseteaks. The fun doesn’t stop there — enjoy live music and events in a lively atmosphere.

#5: Queenie’s (Denton)

Queenie’s is one of the best steakhouse restaurants in Denton, which is no surprise considering it’s owned by celebrity chef, Tim Love. Don’t leave without trying their chicken-fried quail, their New York Strip, or Chef Tim Love’s signature ancho chili chocolate cake, which won Iron Chef America.

#4: Whiskey & Smoke (Flower Mound)

This new restaurant at the Flower Mound River Walk takes your traditional BBQ experience and elevates it with both taste and presentation. Their premium menu items include a Wagyu filet, a NY strip, and a pecan-crusted salmon. Their bar also serves up some breathtakingly beautiful cocktails.

#3: Sip & Savor (Highland Village)

If you’re looking for a girls’ night spot, weekend brunch, date night, or a private room available for events, then you’ll love Sip + Savor in The Shops at Highland Village. Their cuisine is inspired by Wine Country kitchens, and their award-winning bar offers handcrafted cocktails, mocktails, and a superb selection of wines.

#2: Tycoon (Flower Mound)

Tycoon is located in the southern portion of Lakeside DFW and perfectly combines the vibe of a 1930s New York jazz lounge with a luxe Miami restaurant. Think velvet booths, rich accents, and a stunning bar at the center of the restaurant. You can enjoy a delicious dinner with them, or simply stop by for a late-night drink on the weekend on your way back into town.

#1: Komodo Loco (Denton)

The idea of a Japanese-Latin Fusion restaurant sounds a little, well… loco. But at Komodo Loco in Denton, that’s exactly what they’re going for. They have tuna + crab cones that are life-changing, tons of specialty sushi rolls, ramen, tacos, and totchos!
