Food for Thoughtfulness

The holiday season is for celebrating the things we are fortunate to have – family & friends, a safe home, functioning car, warm meal, and maybe a glass of champagne or two. But, when making a list of the things to be thankful for, it is hard not to think about those who may not have even a quarter of that.

Almost 20% of our North Texas residents are experiencing food insecurity. This means one in five households are unable to afford enough food for every family member to live a healthy, active lifestyle. Food insecurity can mean having to chose between dinner tonight and gas to get to work tomorrow, especially with the current inflation. And during the holiday season, these families likely struggle to provide their children with a holiday experience they can feel comfortable sharing with their classmates and friends.

Donating to food pantries can make a family’s life just that much easier, especially during the holidays. Examples of non-perishable, nutritious food items are peanut butter, canned vegetables, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna/chicken, and trail mix. We have provided the contact information of a food pantry in your area. Experience the joy of giving this holiday season.
