Women of Argyle, Rejoice!

You’ve heard of the airplane oxygen mask theory — if you don’t put your oxygen mask on yourself first, you won’t be able to help anybody else. The same can be said for women’s health and wellness.

Dr. Olga Cortez, a board-certified OB/GYN, has been helping women in North Texas with their obstetric and gynecologic care for the last 17 years and will soon be expanding her practice to Argyle.

Dr. Cortez began her education in medicine at the University of North Texas. She earned her medical degree in 2002 from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed her residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in 2006.

Argyle Women’s Health and Wellness will be housed in the former space of Argyle Pediatrics, which is moving into a new building this fall. Dr. Cortez plans to redecorate and then begin seeing patients in November.

Joining Dr. Cortez is Elaine Candeloro, a certified nurse practitioner and midwife.

“Elaine used to work for a birthing center, so she specializes in out-of-hospital births,” Dr. Cortez said. “It’s great because she can bring that experience to our practice and help patients who are trying to have more of a natural delivery.”

Dr. Cortez is passionate about treating women suffering from a hormonal imbalance as she has personally suffered from the issue.

“I was exhausted all of the time, and I couldn’t lose weight, though I was exercising every day,” Dr. Cortez said. “I was so frustrated in my own life. So that’s when I really started looking into hormones, thyroid optimization and inflammation in my body, food intolerances, and the cause of my daily migraines. I started down this path of doing more functional health, functional medicine, which is more hormone-based.”

As a passionate advocate for the overall health of each person, Dr. Cortez works with her patients to identify and achieve their health goals compassionately.

If you’re looking for a physician with almost two decades of experience and who truly listens, it’s time to schedule an appointment with Dr. Cortez and Argyle Women’s Health and Wellness.
