Argyle Women’s Health and Wellness Comprehensive Care For Women In Your Own Backyard

Ask any female and she likely will agree that overall, women share some pretty complex health issues. Dr. Olga Cortez and her talented staff at Argyle Women’s Health and Wellness are more than qualified to care for the unique needs of women throughout every stage of their lives, from adolescence to menopause and beyond.

Dr. Cortez provides a fusion of advanced medical care with a deep and compassionate understanding of women’s issues. The team shares a common goal, and that is to improve the quality of women’s lives through health and wellness. Now there are two locations where Dr. Cortez and her staff fulfill that mission. In addition to Cross Roads, women in and around Argyle can take heart that the highest level of women’s health services are close to home.

As a board-certified OB/GYN since 2006, Dr. Cortez is no stranger to caring for women. Her medical education began at the University of North Texas, and she earned her medical degree in 2002 from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Then it was on to an internship and residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

“Over the course of several years, I also completed a fellowship in anti-aging and metabolic medicine from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), where I studied technologies to combat chronic diseases associated with aging,” Dr. Cortez said. “After a time in private practice with a Denton medical group, I opened my own practice in 2010 with Cross Roads Hormonal Health & Wellness in Cross Roads, Texas, serving both women and men in Denton, Frisco, and the surrounding communities.”

A considerable amount of Dr. Cortez’s business is simply through word-of-mouth referrals and excellent recommendations. When she was encouraged to expand her services beyond Cross Roads with a second location, Argyle was the definitive winner.

“Argyle is close to where I live, my church is there, and I have a lot of friends and connections within the community,” Dr. Cortez said. “I wanted to set up my practice where I already knew a lot of residents. As it happened, my friend Dr. Carrie Jones, whose practice, Argyle Pediatrics, was moving to another location. I knew the spot was opening up, so I took advantage of it.” Argyle Women’s Health and Wellness opened for business in November 2023, and the practice is quickly becoming a highly sought-after resource for women. Dr. Cortez and her team support both locations with their time and medical talent: Argyle on Mondays and Wednesdays, with Tuesdays and Thursdays at Cross Roads.

“Unlike Cross Roads, the Argyle location is exclusively a women’s clinic,” Dr. Cortez pointed out. “We provide women of all ages with comprehensive obstetrics and gynecological services, fertility support, preventative health, and well-woman care. There already are a lot of wonderful med spas in Argyle, so only our Cross Roads location includes a full menu of medical spa services.”

“I did a lot of post-grad work in hormones because most gynecologists aren’t taught about hormonal and menopausal issues throughout their education,” Dr. Cortez said. “About 10 years into my practice, it affected me personally when I myself started having hormonal concerns over the menstrual migraines and fatigue I experienced. It escalated to a point where I had a headache every day. So I took it upon myself to attend seminars, webinars, and read, and I basically educated myself.” The doctor began meeting with more and more women having the same issues, and currently 60% of Dr. Cortez’s practice deals with hormonal issues and hormonal therapies, while many OB-GYNs don’t even test for hormone imbalances.

“Possibly the main reason my practice has grown through word of mouth is that patients tell me I really do listen to them,” Dr. Cortez said. “I always begin with, ‘Tell me about you,’ to thoroughly review their symptoms, lifestyle, current medications, food choices, and as much information as they can share. I ask questions and assure them that ‘we’re going to work together to figure it out.’ And we do. I view each patient as an individual, a woman, wife, mother, and friend, simply searching for answers to their unique issues. I can relate. I’m a doctor and all of those things, too.”

For women who prefer delivering their baby in a less medical atmosphere, the practice employs a certified midwife, Elaine Candeloro, whose long list of credentials includes working for a birthing center. Elaine delivers in the hospital setting at Texas Health Presbyterian Denton. As a midwife, she offers a more holistic approach to prenatal care, delivery, and post-partum care. Women should not entrust their complex healthcare needs to just anyone — Dr. Cortez and her team are experienced professionals, dedicated to helping you live your very best balanced, healthy life.
