Photo Spots for your Next Event

Grad and prom season is upon us, which means it is time to immortalize your child’s accomplishments with professional photos. While we have to leave the outfits, styling, and poses to you, we have curated a list of the ten hottest photo spots in and around the area to save you the trouble of researching them yourself. Remember that popular spots may require permits or fees, so do your research beforehand. Do not forget to consult with your photographers, as they will likely have plenty of trade secrets to suggest.

1. Denton Downtown Square – Denton

With its vibrant, colorful buildings and unique local shops like Recycled Books and Atomic Candy, Denton Downtown Square offers an eclectic backdrop to showcase your hobbies and interests in your photos. 

2.Bear Creek Park – Keller

Bear Creek Park is a classic photo spot in the area. It has a popular hiking trail that features picturesque bridges, funky trees, sitting areas that are great for posing and plenty of greenery. If you follow the trails to Keller Town Hall next door, you’ll find plenty more photo ops, including a gorgeous pond that sits behind the building.

3. Iconic Spots of Fort Worth – Fort Worth

Head into the city for the day and capture some of Fort Worth’s iconic sites to create a meaningful backdrop with that classic southern charm. The Stockyards, Sundance Square—in particular, the giant disco-ball-cowboy-hat—and the Botanic Garden
make for excellent choices that will provide your photos with some variety.

4. Mandalay Canal Walk – Las Colinas 

The canal walk, inspired by the sprawling canals of Venice, Italy, sets a gorgeous and sophisticated backdrop for any photo. With cobbled walkways and vined walls, the romantic, old world charm will shine through in your photos. Plus, once you are through with your session, you can enjoy waterfront dining at one of the several atmospheric restaurants on the canal.

5. Sammons Park at the Winspear – Dallas

Located in the heart of the Dallas Arts District, Sammons Park offers a unique and modern urban setting with striking architecture and several green spaces. Notable shots include a reflecting pool, which is ¼ inch of water made to reflect its subjects and the buildings around it, as well as the massive canopy that shades the Winspear Opera House next door.

6. Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge – Dallas

The Ronald Kirk pedestrian bridge runs nearly parallel to the great white arch and cables of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, a classic Dallas landmark. This bridge provides one of the best views of Dallas with sweeping views of the skyline and the Trinity River below. The bridge will make for an excellent modern backdrop.

7. Stone Creek Park – Flower Mound

True to its name, Stone Creek Park boasts a beautiful backdrop with massive stones that line the creek. This spot has been home to more than a few engagement photos, a testament to its beauty. As you walk along the trail, there are plenty more photo ops, with bridges and greenery to bring your photos to life. 

8. Southlake Town Square – Southlake

Southlake is an especially popular photo spot for prom or homecoming photos as it’s an easy meeting place for larger groups. At the center of the square is a large fountain and vine-lined pergolas that grant the area some rustic charm.
On the other side of the square is a massive gazebo backed by a great lawn and the red-bricked city hall building. Whatever your preference, Southlake has plenty of options.

9. Rockledge Park -Grapevine

At Rockledge Park, rocky cliffs line the shores of Lake Grapevine. With the right angles, your photos can look like they were taken while on an exotic vacation rather than back here in Texas. Stand near the edge of one of the cliffs and let the wind do all the styling for you—it will bring your photos just the right amount of drama.

10. River Walk – Flower Mound

The River Walk in Flower Mound is a charming, tree-lined waterway surrounded by all sorts of amenities. The entire space is picturesque, and the clock tower, small waterfall, and European-style chapel offer some of the best photo shots.
