Your Local Family-Owned Vet Clinic
Any loving pet owner will tell you that having a healthy, happy, and active pet year-round requires only the best in consistent and friendly veterinary care.
Furthermore, they crave a practice that covers them for everything from preventative care to emergencies, is local, family-owned, and offers a calm and welcoming environment that’s hard to find anywhere else.
Thankfully, Dr. Melissa Cordero and her compassionate healthcare team at Bartonville Veterinary Center consistently check all those boxes and more.
They understand the special bond pet owners have with their fur babies, whether that be dogs, cats, or something lovable in between. Therefore, they treat their pet patients as they would their own — with the goal of keeping them healthy, happy, and in capable hands through every stage of life.
“We offer all the great services you’d expect from your vet, but what sets us apart is that we are local and family-owned. That matters to people,” Dr. Cordero said. “And I am blessed to have such a phenomenal team. I really couldn’t do this without them.”
She’s not wrong about that. Alongside Dr. Cordero, who received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2008 from Oklahoma State and is the practice’s owner and medical director, there’s also Dr. Susan Weisser.
There are also six support team members ranging from receptionists and veterinary assistants to technicians, administrative assistants, and medical team supervisors. With all that talent under one roof, Bartonville Veterinary Center offers services that meet all your dog’s or cat’s health needs under one roof.
They provide comprehensive quality care, from routine wellness exams and vaccinations (preventative care) to dentistry, in-house diagnostics, surgery, internal medicine, pharmacy, emergency care, prescription foods, intensive care, senior pet care, and more.
Bartonville Veterinary Center is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), a designation held by only about 15% of veterinary practices in the U.S. This accreditation means the clinic meets AAHA’s rigorous standards for excellence in veterinary care, including medical protocols, facility safety, and patient care. By achieving this status, Bartonville Veterinary Center demonstrates its commitment to high-quality service, giving pet owners confidence that their animals receive top-notch care.
They are also certified by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) as a Cat Friendly Practice, which is important considering cats have unique needs and are easily stressed. BVC maintains higher standards of feline care, such as separate waiting areas and boarding rooms and a cat-only exam room, where pheromones are sprayed or diffused throughout to help cats feel
more relaxed.
Bartonville Veterinary Center also regularly participates in the Best of Denton County awards. This August, Dr. Cordero was named Best Veterinarian. The practice was also in the Top 3 for Best Veterinary Clinic.
“It means so much that our clients are happy and appreciate us and our services,” Dr. Cordero said. “Our clients know me and the team. We are part of the community and are never too busy to make our clients feel cared for. We aren’t an in-and-out corporate business. In fact, we spend a lot of time with our clients and patients — it’s an individualized care type of service.”
She added, “The clinic is clean and welcoming. We want all pets and pet parents to feel at home when they come in, making their visit as stress-free and comfortable as possible. Furthermore, we are proud to be able to serve Bartonville and surrounding communities. We consider our local patients and their families part of the BVC family.”
