Leadership Rooted in Representation & Advocacy

Janvier Werner, Town Councilmember Place 4 of Flower Mound, has dedicated her career to preserving the unique character and natural beauty of her hometown.

Growing up in Flower Mound, Janvier was inspired to get involved in local governance by attending meetings and voicing her opinions on proposed changes. Throughout her adult life, she has been a steadfast advocate for preserving open spaces, maintaining the town’s tree canopy, and upholding the Master Plan’s vision of low-density and high-quality development standards.

Janvier draws professional inspiration from numerous women who have served the town. She has been particularly impressed by Mayor Pro Tem Ann Martin’s preparation, intelligent questioning, and careful deliberation during council meetings.

Janvier also admires former mayors Melissa Northern and Lori DeLuca for their strength of character and unwavering commitment to their vision for Flower Mound.

To young women aspiring to be leaders, Janvier offers valuable advice — pursue what inspires you and learn from observing other leaders, noting both their strengths and weaknesses. However, she emphasizes the importance of staying true to oneself.

Janvier believes the most important qualities of a successful leader include maintaining a calm demeanor, analyzing all sides of a situation, and being fair and compassionate. Passion, persistence, and the ability to pivot when necessary are also crucial for achieving success.

Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential for Janvier, who finds solace in her strong marriage and supportive family. Her small farm and the animals she cares for provide a significant stress-reliever. Spending time outdoors and connecting with nature helps her erase the stresses of the day.

Despite holding many leadership positions over the years, Janvier prefers to think of herself as a representative rather than a leader. She views her roles, whether on the Town Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Lions Club, or PTA, as responsibilities to represent and serve her community and respective groups faithfully.

Janvier Werner’s dedication to Flower Mound is evident in her commitment to preserving the town’s values and natural beauty. Her approach to leadership, rooted in representation and advocacy, continues to impact the community she loves and serves positively.
