Cheryl Moore, the Mayor of Flower Mound, has built a career rooted in community involvement and a passion for public service. 

Her journey began with active participation in her children’s activities, such as GLASA, Boy Scouts of America, PTA, and local dance studios. As her children grew older, Cheryl felt a growing desire to contribute more significantly to her community.

Cheryl’s initial foray into public service was as president of her Homeowners Association (HOA), where she tackled budget issues, service provider management, and infrastructure concerns. 

Witnessing the loss of trees and green spaces in her town, Cheryl decided to take a proactive stance. She served on the Transportation Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission, gaining invaluable experience
and insight.

When asked why she chose to run for Mayor instead of a Town Council position, Cheryl explains that her strengths and weaknesses align better with the mayoral role. Her extroverted nature and servant leadership style enable her to engage deeply with her community and address their needs effectively. 

Cheryl thrives on seeing projects completed and supporting the community while getting to know the residents and their aspirations.

Managing stress and maintaining a healthy work-life balance is a continuous journey for Cheryl. She emphasizes the importance of sleep, aiming for 7-8 hours a night to function at her best. Activities such as cycling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends serve as significant stress relievers. Cheryl has learned the value of saying “no” to avoid overscheduling and uses a calendar and to-do lists to stay organized and prevent overwhelm.

In her spare time, Cheryl enjoys traveling, family game nights, cycling, riding her scooter around town, hiking, and playing the flute. As a Physical Therapist and Clinical Instructor, Cheryl’s diverse interests and skills contribute to her well-rounded approach to leadership.
