Looking for a well-deserved getaway? I highly recommend heading to magnificent Miami, Florida! This has been one of the hottest vacation spots in the world for almost 100 years.
Some interesting facts about this sub-tropical paradise are: It was actually a mangrove swamp before its development. South Beach’s Art Deco district is the largest collection of Art Deco Architecture in the world. Its beautiful beach area is known as “America’s Riviera,” and it’s the only city in the United States that is bordered by two separate National Parks –Biscayne and Everglades. And … Miami has the largest cruise ship port on earth!
Here are a few of the fun things we did on my most recent trip:
Tour of Miami by Water – We felt like a character in the TV show, “Miami Vice,” as we rode on the Thriller Speedboat and saw Miami from the boat’s unique perspective — the open ocean. It’s one of the most popular attractions in Miami.
The Wynwood Art District – This is a cultural hub! It is home to art galleries, museums, and collections and is known for its creative and colorful street art. It was once a collection of warehouses but in recent years has been transformed into one of the world’s hippest hangouts.
The Everglades Alligator Farm – This wildlife park is an all-encompassing alligator experience. But, our favorite part was the airboat ride. We whipped around through the tall saw grass of the enormous Everglades and observed alligators in their natural habitat.
Robert Is Here – It has a strange name…but this place is well known as Florida’s most famous fruit stand. Here, you can taste the unusual because they have hundreds of different types of fruit year-round.
The Biltmore Coral Gables – This is an iconic Miami resort and is also a National Historical Landmark. Built in 1926, it has a fascinating history! This breathtaking property resembles a Spanish castle and an Italian palazzo and sits on 150 acres of lush tropical landscape. The Biltmore has an enormous outdoor 2,300 square yard swimming pool known as the Venetian…and it’s spectacular!
Little Havana – Here you’ll find many authentic Cuban restaurants and family owned cigar shops with age-old aficionados rolling traditional Cuban cigars just like their fathers and grandfathers once did in Cuba.
Isn’t it easy to understand why “Miami is Magnificent?” No wonder it’s one of the most popular vacation spots in the USA – and the entire world!
