For Yvonne Stewart, owner of The Woodhouse Day Spa, being a Hispanic, female, and family-owned business has been more of a blessing than anything else. That is all thanks to the wonderful community that she has been privileged to be a part of for the last 20 years. “When I started out in my career, I spent 30 years in corporate America. With the corporate work world, there were limitations on what we were allowed to be a part of,” Yvonne commented. “Now, being a small, locally owned business owner, I have loved being able to be a part of the local Chamber of Commerce and Cross Timbers Rotary Club.”
Giving back to the community has been a big part of The Woodhouse Day Spa’s history over the past four years. “We give to many of the nonprofits in our area through gift cards for raffles and silent auctions,” Yvonne said. “We’re a small business, still growing, so we cannot afford to give away money, but we can give our time and know that we’re giving back.”
While The Woodhouse Day Spa gives back to the community, the community also gives back to Yvonne, her family, and her employees. “Woodhouse does not offer memberships, what they do offer is an amazing wellness experience that keeps you coming back for more. Yvonne explained. It’s because of this quality service that they have built such an amazing reputation for themselves in such a short amount of time.
A big part of The Woodhouse Day Spa’s outstanding reputation is the fact that almost every single employee lives locally. “We’re not just located in this community, we’re a part of this community,” Yvonne explained.
“Being a part of this community has been so rewarding. This journey hasn’t been easy, especially with the recent struggles over the years in our world. But our community has really supported me and helped me,” Yvonne said.
This year, the community gave back in a huge and fun way. “We’re so excited and proud to be able to be a part of the voting process of Best of Denton County this year,” Yvonne stated. “I’m very pleased and honored to have been nominated.”
