While many beauty salons focus on multiple clients at once, Haven Isom and AJ Peterson wanted their Lux Society business in Lewisville to be different with just one room and two chairs to provide clients with a luxury, upscale and high end experience.
“We wanted to be more intimate,” said the 22-year-old Isom, whose business opened last year. “We want to create a place where you feel loved when you walk in.
“We try to spend our undivided attention on our one client to make sure they’re leaving super happy and they feel like we really care about them. A lot of salons see clients as money. We are all just super passionate about what we do.”
Opening Lux Society followed Isom’s dream to own a business near where she grew up. She attended Castle Hills Elementary and Killian Middle School before homeschooling for high school and finishing two years early. She graduated from The Salon Professional Academy cosmetology school in Lewisville in 2018, worked a few months as a stylist at Drybar in Grapevine, one year as an assistant stylist at MO Hair in Denton, and one year in a suite at the Generations Salon in Castle Hills — where she met Peterson.
The co-owners and fellow stylists Autumn Hartt and Emily Kate Ivey work when their clients need them, whether that be 8 in the morning or 8 o’clock at night. The arrangement allows Lux Society to offer its space to others.
“We are just starting to open our location to where stylists can actually rent the space so that they don’t have to be locked in to either a month-to-month or year-long lease,” Isom said. “To be able to do hair, they can pay for the space for the day or the week and be done.”
Isom said Lux Society is not just for stylists to rent. Its versatility allows bridal parties needing a quiet place to get ready or wedding groups wanting to have pictures taken to rent the facility.
“We think we’re unique,” said Isom, whose father Tommy is a music teacher at Castle Hills Elementary School. “There’s not another place like it.”
