Neffie Brings Classroom Supplies to Educators
Each year, teachers across the country spend hundreds of dollars out of their own pockets to provide classroom supplies for their students. It’s a widespread issue, with educators everywhere seeking ways to ensure their students have the resources they need to succeed. In Northwest ISD, the Northwest ISD Education Foundation (NEF) saw this problem firsthand and decided to take action, launching an initiative to make it easier for teachers to access the essential supplies they require without the financial burden.
To address the issue, the foundation created a free resource store, offering teachers access to supplies and books they might otherwise purchase themselves. But as impactful as this initiative has been, the foundation wanted to do even more. In the 2024-2025 school year, NEF took this program a step further, unveiling Neffie, a mobile resource store that travels directly to schools throughout the district, bringing the supplies to the teachers instead of having them visit a physical store.
Neffie, the mobile store, was designed with teachers’ needs in mind, offering convenience, accessibility, and a wide range of items that make a difference in the classroom. With Neffie now in operation, educators no longer need to find time in their already busy schedules to make a special trip for supplies. Instead, the resource store rolls right into their schools, saving them both time and effort.
“Neffie allows us to increase our impact on the teachers and students of Northwest ISD by bringing essential supplies directly to them,” says Alyssa Pry, Director of Communications and Public Relations. “Teachers can browse and select the items they need for their classrooms, and we’re able to track which items are most popular so that we can ensure those needs are met effectively.”
Making an Impact Across Northwest ISD
In the 2024-2025 school year alone, NEF provided more than $500,000 in free classroom supplies to Northwest ISD educators through its resource store. The foundation’s mission is simple yet powerful: to provide financial support that empowers NISD educators, engages the community, and encourages future-ready students. Neffie plays a vital role in fulfilling this mission, by directly bringing those critical materials to the schools.
Neffie visits schools from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving teachers ample opportunity to stop by during their breaks or after school to pick up the supplies they need. The mobile store features a range of popular items such as books, snack sets, treasure kits, folders, pencils, and more. And thanks to the dedication of the NEF team, teachers are no longer burdened with the additional cost of restocking their classrooms.
“We knew we had something special with the resource store, but we wanted to enhance its accessibility,” Pry explains. “So, before launching Neffie, we spent months improving the process. We implemented an online order form and collaborated with the district’s mail service to deliver supplies directly to schools, making it easier than ever for teachers to get what they need.”
The First Stops
Neffie’s journey began by visiting three middle schools in the district. At Worthington Middle School, 79 educators were served. At Leo Adams Middle School, 84 educators received supplies. And at Chisholm Trail Middle School, 89 educators were able to stock up on materials. These first visits represent just the beginning of Neffie’s mission to reach as many teachers as possible across the district.
“We’re thrilled to see the positive response from teachers so far,” says Pry. “This fall, Neffie will visit every middle school in Northwest ISD, with the goal of serving not just the educators at those campuses but also providing a central location for neighboring schools to benefit from Neffie’s services.”
Supporting Educators for
the Long Term
For the educators in Northwest ISD, Neffie is more than just a mobile store—it’s a resource that recognizes and supports the invaluable role teachers play in shaping the future. By providing free supplies, NEF is taking a significant burden off educators’ shoulders, allowing them to focus on what they do best: teaching.
The Northwest ISD Education Foundation’s efforts don’t stop with Neffie. They continue to explore ways to expand the resource store’s offerings, ensuring that educators have access to the tools and materials they need to create engaging, supportive learning environments for their students. Whether it’s restocking classrooms with essential items, providing books for classroom libraries, or offering creative resources for lessons, NEF is committed to empowering teachers to succeed.
Looking Ahead
As the 2024-2025 school year unfolds, Neffie’s journey has only just begun. With plans to visit every middle school and eventually expand to other campuses across the district, NEF is excited to see the continued impact that Neffie will have on the educators and students of Northwest ISD.
“Neffie is just one example of how the Northwest ISD Education Foundation is committed to helping our teachers and supporting the learning experience in our district,” says Pry. “By making these resources easily accessible, we’re not only reducing the financial strain on our teachers but also ensuring that students have everything they need to thrive.”
As Neffie continues to roll through the district, it’s clear that the Northwest ISD Education Foundation’s innovative approach to supporting educators is making a lasting difference. Through community engagement and a commitment to education, NEF is ensuring that Northwest ISD teachers have the tools they need to shape the future of their students.
