Country Singer Mattie Rose

Mattie Rose: Music from the Heart

Musician and singer-songwriter Mattie Rose released a new single “Still Gone” on February 14 — just in time for Valentine’s Day. This heartfelt love ballad is one to give a listen to. We’ve all had a heartbreak or an epic love story, and this new song is sure to remind us that love is rare and should be cherished even if it’s gone.

“The new song is about going your own way knowing you did the right thing by letting someone go,” Mattie said. Even if they’re gone, love will never be forgotten.

Her new release “Still Gone” has been unanimously selected for the Texas Country Music Association’s Best Texas Country Picks Compilation CD Volume 7. There will be an intimate party for close friends and collaborators of “Still Gone” on February 15. Mattie says it will be “people celebrating people and hard work.”

Originally from Denton County, 20 minutes from the nearest grocery store, this small-town girl with a big-sounding voice now spends her time between Texas and Tennessee as a traveling full-time musician, and loving what she does.

Always drawn to music, younger Mattie Rose was classically trained and participated in choir, and musical theatre. She later graduated from Belmont University where she studied Music Business and Finance to learn the ropes of the music industry.

Stay tuned because Mattie Rose will be planning a tour in May to venues throughout Texas and Southern states. She loves the adrenaline rush that comes from being onstage. The eager listeners who are there to have fun inspire her to perform with her whole self.

“It’s addicting,” she said enthusiastically. She never feels like she’s working when performing her music. “Whether it’s two or 200 people” she feels free and inspired at each show. She recalls some of her favorite moments of performing at The Bartonville Store. It became her favorite place to play because she feels the presence of the audience there is “uniting.” She’s also a regular at The Listening Room in Nashville.

Mattie plays rhythm guitar with a band and performs acoustic shows. She is a lover of country, especially 70s and 80s country, jazz, and Motown. She is inspired by artists like Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, and Keith Whitley.

Bubbly and inspired, Mattie loves collaborating with other artists. The upcoming song was a collaborative endeavor with fellow musician Brett Penington. When he played the song for her, she was so overcome with emotion that she cried. Over the following few weeks, they finished the song and decided it was time to record it and get it ready for release. They ultimately recorded the song together at Fort Worth Sound, the recording studio on Main Street in Fort Worth.

You can check out Mattie’s portfolio of songs on Spotify, YouTube, and all other major streaming platforms. You can also purchase downloads on Amazon or iTunes. Catchy tunes like “Table For Two” and “Whiskey Me Away” are not a one-time listen but rather appealing melodies to listen to again and again.

In each of her songs, Mattie writes about a piece of her life. Songwriting is a cathartic passion allowing her to be her most honest. Feeling those emotions and writing about them is a way she copes with sadness and celebrates happiness.

“Music should be as honest as possible,” she says, and describes her genre as a blend of classic country and Americana. It has a very Texan style with steel guitar and spirited twang.

“Strong” and “stubborn” would be how Mattie’s mom would describe her, and her friends call her “fun-loving.” Her other hobbies include hiking, fishing, and cooking a mean gumbo for her friends or family.

Mattie gives thanks to Bart Rose (no relation) producer of “Still Gone,” Slade Monroe (Texas actor, filmmaker, and Mattie’s boyfriend), her friends, family, and fellow songwriters Brett Penington and Hannah Geiser.

She’s a powerhouse singer bringing country music to the spotlight again. This genre is reviving itself and evolving within our cultural musical current. To listen to her latest single, find out tour dates, and more, visit linktr.ee/mattierose
