Lake Lewisville Dragon Boat Festival

What do you get when you combine a music concert, a charity event, and a boat race inspired by a 2,300-year-old Chinese tradition? The Lake Lewisville Dragon Boat Festival is shaping up to be one of the most colorful and exciting new community fundraisers in Denton County, bringing together dragon boat racing, food, live music, and local spirit for a meaningful cause. Scheduled for June 26-27 at Copperas Branch Park on Lake Lewisville, the event benefits Serve Denton and is designed to build awareness for the nonprofit’s mission while giving residents and businesses an entertaining way to get involved and support the community.

Why It Matters

Not only is Serve Denton the largest nonprofit center in Denton County and one of the largest in Texas, but their mission is to also help other nonprofits and communities to better serve people in need. The organization connects local safety-net services all under one roof, making services more accessible in order to help thousands of struggling families access support efficiently. In addition, Serve Denton serves as a patron for other nonprofits by significantly reducing their overhead so that funds can be appropriated more to the benefit of their recipients.

Race With a Purpose

The dragon boat festival represents a fun and creative way to raise awareness and support while inviting the broader community to be part of the solution. The festival is much more than a race; it’s a spectacle. Participants are encouraged to pick a team theme they can all rally behind. From there, teams of up to 20 paddlers move in sync to power long, colorful boats across the water, creating a fast-paced, high-energy competition that is a sight to behold. The races are paired with a two-day celebration filled with entertainment, including a live musical performance by George Dunham & The Bird Dogs.

How to Participate

The festival offers several ways to participate, including competing on a team, becoming a sponsor, volunteering or attending as a supporter. For local businesses, sponsorships offer brand visibility tied to a feel-good community event with strong family appeal and a charitable focus. For residents, it is a chance to cheer on teams, discover a new tradition on Lake Lewisville, and support an organization that is making a real difference close to home.
