Jay Marks’ Gift to You: the Best Real Estate Experience
Jay Marks insists you’d be hard-pressed to find a kinder and more giving person than his late father, Julius. Jay’s dad spent his entire life ensuring that everyone he met felt valued and had the best experience possible —whether chatting it up with the garbage men down the street or shaking hands with bank presidents. But if you asked Julius what he loved the most, it was the holiday season. And more often than not, that meant giving more gifts than he could possibly receive in return.
“I remember asking my dad when I was 9 or 10,” Jay said, “‘Why do you like to give instead of get for Christmas?’ He said, ‘I love the look on their faces when they see their presents. I took that to mean that giving makes people happy.”
Jay would never assume he could fill his dad’s shoes — especially around the holidays. But anyone who knows Jay will say he’s a chip off the old block. More than just your friendly neighborhood real estate agent, Jay’s greatness lies in his humanity — his willingness to be real, vulnerable, loving, and to ensure every client has the best experience possible. It’s why he and his team at Jay Marks Real Estate in Flower Mound earn a living from repeat business and referrals. And it’s why people turn to him regularly for his honest advice, down-to-earth personality, and uncanny ability to connect with people. For all those reasons and more, Jay is invigorated more than ever by this year’s season of giving.
“We give of our time. We give money. We raise money for people,” Jay said. “When we enter into a contract with a client, we are known for thinking ahead, anticipating needs, preventing breakdowns, and always giving way more than we receive
in return. That’s what my dad would have done. It might mean a gift card to a restaurant or arranging to have someone mow a client’s lawn.… The point is, we are always going above and beyond. The most wonderful gift of all is Jesus Christ. He is our Savior. As we follow Him, we should give as much as possible. That should be our focus this holiday season.”
Jay and his team believe in connecting with people at the highest level and providing the best experience possible. They build relationships that stand the test of time. Beyond real estate, people have spent time with Jay at local charity events, enjoyed reading his Foodie Friday articles highlighting various local restaurants, and partnered with him and his team on business deals. However, his giving mindset goes much deeper than that. Just recently, a client was preparing her house to be photographed the next day and found that her dog had made a huge mess on the patio. With no time to fix the issue and no one to help her, she called Jay in a panic. Jay grabbed his pressure washer and ran to her home to handle the mess quickly. Talk about being prepared!
Speaking of always being prepared, Jay is always ready to ensure his clients can access the appropriate resources for their unique needs. For one client, that might mean a quality referral for a foundation repair expert. For another, it might be a referral to an estate planning and probate attorney after a loved one suddenly passes away. “I had one client say to me, ‘I feel so lost.’ I told her, ‘Instead of feeling lost, feel comfort because I’m going to help you and your son work through this one step at a time,’” Jay said. “When you can sit in front of someone — in this case, an 87-year-old widow who has been in the same home for 55 years — and help her through a challenge, it makes a difference.”
Jay added, “I genuinely love what I do, and it means the world to me that I can walk into someone’s home and figure out how to accomplish their dreams or solve a problem. It’s all about going above and beyond — especially during the holidays.”What more could you want when looking for a real estate agent and a friend for life? “I hope my dad is proud of me,” Jay said.
