Preliminary Round Concerts
From Thursday, June 2 through Saturday, June 4, you can attend the Preliminary Round Concerts that are being held at Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU. There will be 30 competitors this year that will perform a 40-minute recital. It will include commissioned work of 4-6 minutes by Stephen Hough.
Raise the Praise
The organization Pregnancy Help 4 U is hosting a fundraising event ‘Raise the Praise’. This event is being held on June 10th and the event will begin at 7pm, however, doors will open at 6:30pm. You can come and enjoy Christian artist, Micah Tyler. The price for admission is $65 for general admission. You can also purchase a VIP Sponsorship Package for $1,500. Parking for the event is free.
Northwest ISD Second Grader Saves Life
Northwest ISD second grade student, Tessa Bowler, recently used the skills and knowledge that she learned from the two-day swimming and safety course that all NISD second grade students took to save her cousin’s life. Her cousin fell into the pool and could not swim. Thanks to the course she took at the NISD Aquatic Center, Tessa knew exactly what to do and saved her cousin’s life.
The Big Event
Hundreds of Northwest ISD students and staff members recently came together to participate in The Big Event. The Big Event is the largest one-day, student-run service project in the entire nation. The volunteers served and gave back to the community by doing things such as washing firetrucks, picking up trash, doing yard work, painting, and serving at local animal shelters.
Students Win District Middle School Robotics Competition
Recently three Northwest ISD students who attend Medlin Middle School won the District Middle School Robotics Competition. All across the district, Robotics 1 students have been learning skills and gaining experience throughout the entire school year which aided these three students, Aadya Keshri, Chase Conticello, and Mason Fain, in their huge win.
Students Recognized at Fine Arts Breakfast
Recently, the students and staff at Lance Thomas Elementary School participated in the school’s annual celebration, Lance Day, honoring their school’s namesake. The celebration held fun activities that focused on nature. The students had a great time at the Outdoor Learning Center participating in so many fun activities such as the petting zoo, archery, arts and crafts, and more.
