Denton County MISSION: S.A.F.E.

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office Explorers Post 29 has a new mission: S.A.F.E., otherwise known as Stuffed Animals For Everyone. They are accepting donations of new stuffed animals for the Denton County Courthouse and have partnered with Denton County’s Criminal and District Judges to execute MISSION: S.A.F.E. The stuffed animals that are collected will be given to children who come through the courthouse for various reasons.

Independence Day Parade & Picnic

On June 25th from 10 am – 1 pm you are invited to attend the Annual Independence Day Parade & Picnic that will be presented by the Seay Group. Residents and resident organizations will be able to be featured in the parade. At the picnic, there will be free premium hot dogs and chips for attendees while supplies last. It’s also a BYOB event. There will also be lawn games, water slides, Slip n’ Slides, and more. The event will be held in the Town Green.

Argyle

Argyle Legacy Project 

Young Argyle resident Tuscan recently chose to center his legacy project on benefiting the Argyle Police Department and its officers. Tuscan was able to run a grand total of thirty-four miles to raise the money for him to be able to create the amazing and thoughtful gift bags that he personally delivered to our Argyle officers.

Keep Argyle Beautiful Summer Clean Up

The local organization Keep Argyle Beautiful is hosting its annual Summer Clean Up. The event will be held on Monday, June 27th, from 10 am – 12 pm. These quarterly clean-ups are always organized by 13-year-old Argyle resident and member of Keep Argyle Beautiful, Alivia Michaels. Alivia has a passion for spreading awareness about being more mindful when it comes to littering. This summer’s clean-up will be focused on cleaning the Argyle Town Center Area.

Lake Cities Area Buzz Third Annual Water Drive

The well-known and loved Facebook group Lake Cities Area Buzz is hosting its third annual Water Drive to benefit the Lake Cities First Responders. Residents are invited to donate packs of water and/or Gatorade to help in the mission to keep our Lake Cities first responders healthy and hydrated. You can drop off your items at Quick Ship, Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce Office, Shady Shores Town Hall, or Joes Bait and Tackle. You can also use Venmo to make a monetary donation at lakecitiesareabuzz@gmail.com.

LSBC’s Annual VBS Program is Here!

If you’re looking for a week of fun for your kids this summer, VBS is the perfect option. Lake Shore Baptist Church is hosting its annual VBS program beginning on June 27th and goes through June 30th. The program starts at 9 am and ends at 12 pm and is designed for kids in grades pre-K through 5th grade. There will be a ton of fun games and activities for your kids to enjoy. Sounds of Lewisville

The Sounds of Lewisville concert series is back for summer 2022. This season-long event began in 1991 as a free family fun entertainment concert that took place at the Vista Ridge Amphitheater. Now, the Sounds of Lewisville has grown to be moved to Old Town Lewisville. This event takes place every Tuesday in June and July at Wayne Ferguson Plaza from 7 pm – 9:30 pm.

Beginner Jazz Masterclass

Has your child ever expressed an interest in dance but you weren’t one hundred percent sure that they would love it and stick to it? The Lewisville Arts Conservatory, or The LAC, has come up with an amazing option for you. They are offering a Beginner Jazz Masterclass and they are offering for you to try out a one-time class for beginners. The class is for children ages 5-18 and is $20 to participate.

Justin’s Summer Reading Program

The Justin Community Library’s Annual Summer Reading Program is officially back in business. It was designed to help create a lifelong love of reading in children of all ages. The program began on June 1st and will end on July 31st. For every book that is read, an adult will get an entry form for the drawing. There will be two drawings during the summer for winners that will take place on the last day of June and the last day of July.

Roanoke’s Pie Eating Competition 

The City of Roanoke is hosting its annual 3rd of July event and they are bringing back the beloved pie-eating competition. The city is currently looking for the fastest pie eaters in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. And there is no registration fee to enter! Summit Club Awards $25,000 to Community Organizations

The Summit Club of Flower Mound had another amazingly successful year of community service events. Through these events, the Summit Club was able to have the opportunity to award twelve community grants to local area organizations with a total of $25,000. The club has an incredible mission of supporting local organizations that help to promote and demonstrate to our local youth that giving back to your community enhances the quality of life for yourself and everyone around you. I think it’s safe to say that the club achieved its goal. 

 

Independence Fest 2022 

The Town of Flower Mound is thrilled to be able to announce that, not only is the Annual Flower Mound Independence Fest back for 2022 but that Randy Rogers Band will be headlining the Town’s 4th of July celebration. The event is set to take place on Monday, July 4th at Bakersfield Park. The entire day will be filled with fun and activities for the whole family to enjoy. And, of course, there will be a firework show to end the night.

Alliance Life 

Local Community Donates to Haslet FD

The local community of Caraway recently made a very generous donation of water, Gatorade, and snacks to our Haslet Fire and Rescue Department. This donation will help keep our local rescue crews healthy and hydrated as they make their runs, calls, and complete their training in the middle of the Texas summer heat.

Reporting Illegal Dumping Made Easy

Haslet has now made the important task of reporting illegal dumping easier by creating a website for local residents specifically for easy access to illegal dumping reporting and solid waste programs that are available in the North Central Texas region. Haslet’s goal with its website is to be able to increase awareness when it comes to the hazards of illegally dumping trash and to help encourage all of Haslet’s citizens to participate in local recycling and solid waste programs.

Summer Reading Program Begins

Haslet’s Summer Reading Program is officially in full swing. Registration began at the end of May and the program will go on throughout the months of June and July. If you or someone you know would like to take part in the Summer Reading Program but want to choose not to come to the library to register, you have the option to download a PDF registration form and send it via email or snail mail. Independence Day Celebration 

Haslet would like to invite you to come out to Haslet Community Park on July 1 for an amazingly fun community-wide event to celebrate Haslet’s Annual Independence Day Celebration. The event will feature a live DJ, Vendors, Prizes, and, of course, fireworks. There are still opportunities if you would like to volunteer, sponsor, or be a vendor for this event.
