6 Back to School Snacks

Well, summer is officially almost over which means it’s time to start getting into back-to-school mode. There are a lot of details to think about when getting your kids ready to go back to school – supplies, clothes, schedules, orientations, permission slips, and paperwork. One thing that will most likely get overlooked until the last minute? After-school snacks. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of 6 healthy, easy, and delicious snacks for your kids to enjoy.

1) Energy Balls

Energy balls are a quick and easy snack that you can make in bulk ahead of time. You can customize them to any flavors your kids would enjoy. You can even use your choice of nut butter and ingredients to customize the recipe. It takes just a few minutes to throw all of the ingredients together and then you just keep them in an air-tight container in the fridge. They are the perfect snack that your kids will love!

2) Pinwheels

If you want an easy snack that you can throw together in minutes, then pinwheels are something that you have to try. Essentially, they’re just a cream cheese roll-up that you cut into bite-size pieces. You can even add lunch meat, chopped veggies, or shredded cheese to really take them up a notch. Quick, simple, and a crowd favorite!

3) Apple Nachos

Do you have a kid who is absolutely obsessed with nachos? Well, if that’s the case, you have to try out apple nachos. All you have to do is slice up any type of apple, and drizzle them with your choice of nut butter. The toppings are completely up to you! You can choose chocolate chips or even granola for a bit of a crunch.

4) Banana Parfait

Let’s stick on the fruit train for just a second. Have you ever heard of a banana parfait? Well, if not, here’s your opportunity to give this amazing snack a try. Just slice a banana in half, cover it with your choice of nut butter, then roll the banana in granola. If you want a little something extra, you could add your favorite berry to the mix. This snack is so yummy and will keep your kids satisfied until dinner.

5) Blueberry Muffins

If you have a bit of extra time during your weekend and you feel like baking, blueberry muffins are a great snack for the kids after school. They can be made with normal ingredients, or you can switch out some of them for a healthier alternative. Muffins are absolutely delicious and they are a great way to treat your kids after a long day of school.

6) Veggies and Hummus

Now this one might not be a crowd favorite in your house, but if your kids do love hummus, you’ve got to try this one out. Talk about a quick snack! Just cut up some veggies of your choice and let them get to dipping! And if they aren’t a fan of hummus, try switching it out with ranch. It’s simple, delicious, and nutritious which makes it ideal for an after-school snack.
