Give Where You Live: North Texas Giving Day
Let’s be honest: the internet doesn’t always bring out our best selves. But once a year, something magical happens across North Texas — our feeds fill with puppies, kids, community gardens, teachers, artists, and people doing genuinely good things. Welcome to North Texas Giving Day, your annual chance to be part of something big (and not just retweet it).
Mark your calendars:
Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025 is the big day, and trust us — you don’t want to miss it.
So… what is North Texas Giving Day?
Started in 2009 by Communities Foundation of Texas, North Texas Giving Day has grown into the largest community giving event in the nation. It’s like a region-wide pep rally for kindness, where donations of all sizes help fuel local nonprofits — from big, household names to the tiny-but-mighty food pantry just down your street.
It’s not just charity. It’s hometown pride in action.
Last year, generous North Texans raised over $66 million for 3,200+ nonprofits, and this year? Organizers are aiming for $70 million. That’s a whole lot of heart, hope, and help.
Who’s behind it?
The giving day is powered by Communities Foundation of Texas and supported by generous sponsors including Amazon, NBC 5 / Telemundo 39, The Dallas Cowboys, and dozens of community-minded companies that believe in building a better North Texas.
Thanks to help from generous givers and sponsors, Communities Foundation of Texas covers all transaction and technology fees, ensuring 100% of each donation made on the site goes to nonprofits in more than 25 cause areas across 20 North Texas counties, all year long.
This isn’t some gala or elite donor club — it’s a come-as-you-are, give-what-you-can kind of event. Whether it’s $10 or $1,000, your donation matters.
How can you get involved?
Here’s the good news: you don’t need to dress up, show up, or even get off the couch.
- Go to NorthTexasGivingDay.org
- Search by cause (animals, arts, education, environment, etc.)
- Pick your favorite nonprofit(s)
- Donate anytime between August 28 – September 18, 2025
- Celebrate being a local legend
You can even schedule your gift in advance, so you don’t forget when life gets busy (or when you fall into a TikTok spiral that somehow ends with raccoons on
a skateboard).
What difference can you make?
Your donation could buy new books for a school library, fund vet bills for a rescue pup, support domestic violence survivors, feed seniors, train young artists, or help a single mom go back to college.
No matter your passion, there’s a nonprofit doing the work—and they’re counting on people like you. When we all chip in, real magic happens.
Bonus — It’s surprisingly fun.
On Giving Day, your inbox and social feed will turn into a digital block party. Nonprofits post updates, videos, challenges, and heartwarming stories all day long. Some offer matching gifts, giveaways, or silly stunts (“If we raise $5,000, our executive director will dance in a chicken suit!” Yes, that’s a real thing.)
Want to get your coworkers, book club, or your dog-walking group involved? Create a Fundraising Page and rally your people. You’ll be shocked how generous friends can be — especially when there’s a chicken suit on the line.
Final Thoughts
North Texas Giving Day is your chance to show up for your community without leaving your comfy pants. It’s fast, easy, and genuinely impactful. So this September, instead of doom-scrolling, do some good-scrolling.
Because when North Texans give together, we don’t just meet goals. We blow them out of the water.
