Flower Mound Native Lauren Faria Graduates Naval Academy

Lauren Faria earned her nominations to the United States Naval Academy from former Congressman Michael Burgess and Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro. She will graduate from the Academy on May 22, 2026, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Robotics and Control Engineering. Faria will commission as a junior officer in the Surface Warfare community and has been guaranteed her first-choice homeport assignment in Japan.

Faria is a 2021 graduate of Flower Mound High School and completed the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) in 2022, where she served as Battalion Executive Officer and was a member of the NAPS Cheer Team.

During her four years at the Naval Academy, Faria distinguished herself through leadership, academics, and service. She served as Battalion Operations Officer and 5th Company Squad Leader during her final semester and also held the role of Public Affairs Officer for 5th Company. She was a four-year member of Navy Spirit as a dancer, earning her letter sweater and serving as Public Affairs Officer for the team. Faria was also a soloist flutist and student leader in the Midshipmen Orchestra.

Her involvement extended across the Brigade, including participation in the Catholic Midshipmen Club, the STEM Club, and an international LREC program in Turkey focused on cultural engagement and STEM representation.

Before attending the Naval Academy, Faria was a Gold Award Girl Scout, a NASA High School Aerospace Scholar, a JROTC leader, and a squad leader in the Flower Mound High School Marching Band, where she also performed as a flutist. These early leadership roles helped shape her path toward military service and engineering.

A proud representative of Flower Mound and Denton County, Faria will begin her naval career this summer as she reports to her first ship in Japan.
