Be Confident in Your Choices
People who have visited The Design House showroom in Denton already love that they can see and touch what’s sold there, but what they may not know is the industry expertise contained within its confines.
This is especially true with co-owner Jennifer Homeyer, who serves on two national organizations. One is the Shaw Industries Shaw Flooring Network Dealer Council, for which she’s served the past four years. The other is a women’s organization called poWer of theNetwork for which she’s a founding committee member.
Shaw is among the world’s largest floor manufacturers and a Design House supplier for 17 years. The Dealer Council represents 1,600 dealers in the U.S. and Canada and guides and collaborates
with Shaw on product style, function and performance.
“It’s been a wonderful experience,” Jennifer said. “We guide Shaw on what dealers like us want and need to better serve our customers.”
PoWer of the Network promotes more females joining the industry and becoming leaders while sharing information and providing support.
“Historically, the flooring industry has always been men dominated,” she said. “Given our industry is a lot about style and design, things that women typically excel at, it’s interesting men have historically led the industry. The number of women is growing, and poWer is a great vehicle to drive and support that growth.”
She added, “I would love for everyone to know we are a family-owned business. We reinvest in our community and ourselves, which ultimately gives our customers better industry knowledge to make a more informed choice when they are choosing our products and services.”
Those visiting The Design House likely will notice the near completion of the showroom renovation. This includes 10 complete vignettes – eight baths, one fireplace, and one kitchen.
“These are beautiful styles that could easily be reconfigured with different materials,” Jennifer said. “I think people really appreciate being able to touch, feel, and experience the vignettes. It’s basically trying before you buy. It’s important to us that our customers feel confident in what they are buying.”
